OXO Planet: Engineering Adventure from Concept to Execution

OXO Planet: Engineering Adventure from Concept to Execution

How OXO Planet takes adventure infrastructure from concept and engineering through fabrication, installation and commissioning.

At the very first glance, an adventure park may just look like a collection of thrilling attractions. A zipline, climbing wall, ropes course or giant swing is what the visitors see. However, what they don't see is what goes into bringing these structures to life — the engineering behind it. It is a meticulous process that involves site planning, safety systems and operational thinking that makes it possible to provide the ultimate adrenaline rush.

That is where OXO Planet originated, and it has been working ever since.

OXO Planet is a design-and-build specialist in adventure parks and recreational infrastructure, bringing concept, engineering, fabrication and execution together. Its in-house capabilities include design and fabrication, supported by certified components from Edelrid, Petzl, Kong, Head Rush and Camp. From individual adventure installations to complete multi-activity destinations, the objective is not to simply install the equipment. It is to create infrastructure that is aligned with the client's vision and best suited for the site, the operator and the people who will use it. Our recently published case study of the Fong Fong Ma Adventure Zone at Jang Falls, Tawang — a three-line zipline tour with plan spans of 410 m, 390 m and 320 m, built at around 2,900 metres above a working hydel facility — shows what that means in practice.

What does OXO Planet build?

OXO Planet develops adventure infrastructure for standalone installations and larger curated adventure destinations. Our work spans aerial and high-impact attractions, ropes and challenge systems, climbing and vertical experiences, play and immersive structures, motorsport and tactical experience systems, and indoor recreation formats. Some of our highlight projects are the Shanti Van Colony adventure park for Adani Ports and SEZ at Mundra, Gujarat; Sreenidhi International School, Hyderabad; Maira Resort & Convention Center, Raipur, Chhattisgarh; Ban Jungle Adventure, Kathmandu, Nepal; Fong Fong Ma (Jang Falls), Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh; and several projects for the special forces.

The design of each installation is significant, more than the attraction itself. It is a combination of variables like terrain, available space, user movement, operational capacity, access and safety requirements that influence how a project is planned and built. Two of our climbing walls make the point. For 9 Para SF, the requirement was scale and permanence: an 18 m × 16 m single-face wall on RCC support pillars with an MS sub-frame, completed in four months and able to train 20 personnel at a time. For ITBP, the requirement was mobility: a 12 m wall with no permanent foundations — a fully bolted MS structure that dismantles in two days, reinstalls in five, and has already been relocated from Khurda to Auli.

Hence, the same installation may require very different engineering solutions at two different sites.

Who does OXO Planet build for?

Adventure infrastructure is increasingly being used across sectors, from defence and training establishments to government and tourism projects and real estate and commercial developments.

OXO Planet works with organisations that need infrastructure designed around a specific site, audience and operating environment, not a standard installation placed on a piece of land.

Every project, therefore, begins with an understanding of the requirements, which is then infused with the best industry knowledge to build adventure installations that last.

Why engineering comes first

At OXO Planet, engineering does not begin after the concept is finished. It helps shape the concept from the start.

A project moves through several operational stages, such as site assessment, concept development, engineering integration, structural design, fabrication, pre-installation verification, site execution, commissioning, and training. Each stage has a role in ensuring that what is designed can be fabricated, installed, operated and maintained safely.

For an adventure installation to be commissioned, details such as structural loads, access, rider throughput, braking, rescue considerations and site conditions can influence the final design. Bringing these considerations in early helps avoid treating engineering as a correction to a finished idea.

This approach comes from experience. OXO Planet has delivered 70+ projects and 300+ activities across 25+ states and union territories, with projects spanning India and Nepal.

The result is a process built around one principle: to provide the ultimate adventure experience that is engineered from the ground up.
